Corporate Social Responsibility

POLICY
Introduction

Reddington Construction Ltd is a Principal Contractor with experience across the residential, retail, mixed-use, education, healthcare, leisure and commercial sectors. We are committed to operating as a responsible and ethical business that contributes positively to the communities and environments in which we work.

Our approach to Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) reflects our belief that construction should deliver more than buildings, it should create economic opportunities, support local people, improve wellbeing, and leave a lasting legacy. To ensure we deliver meaningful social value, we work closely with clients, local authorities, community stakeholders and brokerage organisations to maximise opportunities for local communities.

Objectives

We actively promote and implement social value through our business activities. Our CSR strategy aligns with key themes such as poverty reduction, health and wellbeing, inclusive employment and skills growth, environmental responsibility, and partnership working. We aim to tailor our community investment activities to reflect the local authority’s vision and respond to the specific needs of each community.

We are committed to monitoring and measuring the value we deliver and to continually increasing our impact. We promote our CSR and social value objectives across the business and to all stakeholders through training, communication and day-to-day practice.

Our commitments are structured around five key principles:

  1. Our People

  2. Our Local Communities

  3. Rights of Workers

  4. Environmental Responsibility

  5. Wider Stakeholder Engagement

Our People

Reddington Construction is committed to providing and promoting equal opportunities in employment. We treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, colour, nationality, religion or belief, or sexual orientation.

We ensure all recruitment, training, and promotion decisions are made on a fair and objective basis, considering only the skills and experience required to perform each role. We foster a culture of inclusion and expect all managers and staff to set a positive example and champion equality, diversity and inclusion at every level.

Community Commitments

We aim to make a real difference to the communities we work in by supporting local charitable, social and environmental causes. We are committed to providing employment opportunities for local people from diverse backgrounds and helping to develop the next generation of skilled construction professionals. Our approach to community engagement includes:

  • Supporting local charitable, social, and environmental causes

  • Providing employment opportunities for local people from diverse backgrounds

  • Developing the next generation of skilled construction professionals

  • Listening to and engaging with local communities to understand their needs

  • Consulting regularly with local stakeholders and hosting inclusive community engagement events

  • Supporting projects for youth, disadvantaged groups, older adults, and vulnerable people

  • Donating time or resources to worthwhile local initiatives

  • Sponsoring projects to improve environmental conditions in local areas

Rights of Workers

We recognise that everyone has a role to play in upholding fair and inclusive practices. We expect all employees and managers to lead by example and ensure that the principles of equality, diversity and respect are embedded across the organisation and our supply chain.

We are committed to creating a working environment where all individuals feel valued, supported, and safe, free from discrimination, bullying or harassment.

Improving the Environment

Reddington Construction is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations and supporting the transition to a low-carbon future. We embed sustainability into both our site practices and project delivery, and we:

  • Use local suppliers where possible to lower transport-related carbon emissions

  • Promote cycling and other sustainable commuting options among staff

  • Design and construct energy- and water-efficient buildings

  • Reduce climate impacts, air pollution, and construction waste

  • Promote sustainable and ethical procurement

  • Strive to leave the environment in a better state than we found it

  • Support the transition to a low-carbon future through our projects

Wider Stakeholder Engagement

We recognise that building positive relationships with our partners, clients, suppliers, and the public is central to delivering sustainable outcomes. We are committed to open communication, transparency, and shared responsibility when delivering projects that matter to the communities we serve.

Review and Continuous Improvement

This policy will be reviewed at regular intervals, or following significant changes in legislation or business operations, to ensure it remains relevant and effective. Any updates will be communicated to all employees and relevant stakeholders.
